Indianapolis Air Show

Mount Comfort Airport near our house hosts the annual Indianapolis Air Show the last weekend of August.  Brian took the boys to see the planes on display and the Blue Angels.  We live close enough we can see the Blue Angels practice over our house during the week and Jean saw some of the high acrobatics from our house.

The boys check out one of the old military planes on display

You'd think we were going to a Cubs game with the hats!

This is Erik's warped reflection in a very shiny nose cone

Kristofer had to do it too

The B-24 makes it's appearance

Kylan prepares for the Blue Angels

A series of photos of an acrobat plane.  These planes were twisting and spinning so much I have no idea how they kept track of the ground!

This was a different acrobat...still doing crazy things

This plane did a big loop and then gave everyone a "wave"

The US Army has acrobat helicopters that do some amazing stunts in formation.  I didn't expect them to do much so I didn't have the camera ready but I did get one shot of a fly-by

This is hard to see but it is a parachute coming down from a plane that was circling overhead

Erik and Kylan got a chance to go in the B-24

This plane actually spent the next two weeks in Fargo and Minot!

They got a chance to go into the cockpit as well

Kristofer shows off how big the tire of a B-24 is

More planes on display

They do this so the plane can fit in the garage

Kylan and Kristofer pose in a small replica of a fighter jet

I don't remember what kind of plane this was but we went inside it

This is what it looked like...mostly just a big cargo plane with a ramp on the back

There were lots of fun games to do...here Kylan slides down an inflatable slide

The boys also took a ride on the Space Shuttle

Time for the Blue Angels...AMAZING!!

I'm not sure if this is an old version of a Blue Angel or just the plane that transports their stuff.  It was big and slow compared to the current jets.

A beautiful site to see!  How do they not hit each other?

This was a very common routine.  They would fly toward each other and then at the last minute turn 90 degrees and fly by each other.

Another formation fly-by

Here two planes fly by together but one is upside down

Another sequence of planes meeting

Plane #3

Jean was able to see this loop from our house (about 5 miles away)

The boys called this one "The Flower"

Although you can't tell in the photo, these two planes are hardly moving

They had been in formation and then split off in 6 different directions

They then circled back and crossed from 6 different directions at slightly different elevations

One last fly by of all 6 planes before heading on to the next show
