Jean's 40th Birthday - Wicked on Broadway!

Brian took Jean to New York City the weekend before her 40th birthday to see Wicked on Broadway.  Brian's mom flew in to watch the boys and it was a quick weekend.  We flew over early Saturday morning and flew back late Sunday night.  The show was amazing and we got to do some sightseeing around Manhattan.  The low point was blisters on Jean's feet due to a poor sandal choice.  She was a trooper though.

Brian got the room via Priceline and we ended up at the Hudson Hotel near Columbus Circle.  There was no signage on the front of the building!

Just inside the front door was a very small lobby that led to these escalators up to the main lobby.

This is the view from the lobby on to the terrace behind the front desk

The lobby bar is apparently a trendy hot spot for the Paris Hilton's of the world

The room was small but very nice; well worth the price we paid on Priceline.

The curtain in this picture can be pulled aside to see the shower

The bathroom was trendy but very small

This is the shower on the other side of the curtain; there was glass between the shower and bedroom

We took a tour of Radio City Music Hall and got to go on stage.  This picture is a little fuzzy since it was taken without a flash.  You can see the 3 balconies at the back of the theater.

This is the scene from the top balcony.  The acoustics were amazing!  We could hear the tour clearly on the stage without any sound system.

Jean poses inside the theater at Radio City Music Hall.  There is no "back stage" so the performers have to come out the small curtains on the side walls behind Jean.

Jean brought out her old Flashette days and did a kick line on stage at RCMH

Obnoxious ads are the norm in Times Square...this one for Toys 'R Us

Macy's department store is bigger than most malls!

Ground zero was a very humbling site.  Construction has begun on the replacement buildings, new train hub, and memorials.

Taxis are everywhere in Manhattan

This was inside the M&M store.  Those colorful towers are filled with M&Ms for you to create your color assortment.

This fountain in Central Park is a popular setting for movies.

You forget you are in the middle of a large city when you walk through Central Park

This was a walking bridge over the pond near the fountain

Jean's favorite store, Tiffanys

I was told that pictures are not allowed inside the store shortly after taking this picture

A tourist legend - the Naked Cowboy

As you can see he's wearing underwear and poses with several tourists.  He never got to sing more than a couple words before someone else posed for a picture.

We returned to the theater to get some photos...this is the sign outside the theater.

Mamma Mia! is one of our other favorite shows with the theater right on Broadway

Advertising is everywhere in this picture looking south on Broadway toward Times Square

Traffic cops are also a common site in NYC
